winter break

As a family, we were fortunate to escape the everyday life we live. We drove a few hours north to visit with family for a couple of days. It is just what we needed.
I can't speak for the rest of my family but I needed this break more than I realized.
It also put a few things in perspective once again.

The last few months have challenged me like no other. By fate my husband and I have experienced several events that have tested our sense of feeling safe in our world. (You know the type of thing that makes you want to hug your loved ones that much tighter.)
In such a short time we have experienced things that have come too close to changing our lives in a very negative way. It has been a whirlwind of emotion and some of it I am only coming to terms with. However, I have found some positive in all of this and I am thankful for all the things that didn't happen. (We were lucky in that respect.)

But, I find myself a little less trusting.
So when I say I really needed the escape.... I really needed it.

While we were north we had a glorious day in the sunshine. We went snowshoeing at a local Cranberry Farm. Of course I brought my camera and captured many photos and relished in the beauty of the land but mostly I relished in being with my family.
After our snowshoeing we spent time at the winery, sampling and buying such yummy things. It really was wonderful.

Being immersed in my day to day life
has made it is easy for me to forget
how being out in nature effects my soul.

It makes me feel

so peaceful,

so fortunate

and

so thankful.
(It is just what the doctor ordered.)

This trail and the few days we spent in the woods was a true blessing.
