Art Doll Quarterly 2012 Winter Issue feature and a giveaway!

well it finally arrived! the new issue of art doll quarterly.
i waited on pins and needles for quite some time. checking the mail box every day.
so excited to see my little blessings in print!

i had so much fun creating these angels and i have a soft spot for this little fellow with the red socks!

i thought i would share the inspiration behind them with an excerpt from my article.

I clasp my hands together trying to contain my excitement. My halo feels a little awkward, but my wings seem to be straight. We all found our positions as we waited for the music to begin. I caught a glimpse of my mother in the audience; I smiled and waved proudly at her. It was Christmas Eve! On such a night, nothing can be more magical than watching the sheer innocence and delight on the faces of children as they sing carols and perform the Christmas story. It's in these faces where we find what the season is truly about.

the most amazing thing about this issue was that i got to share it with my cousin,  Judy Porritt. when i was featured in the spring issue of Art Doll Quarterly my cousin Judy called me to congratulate me. she was so excited for me and we talked for quite sometime.   over the years we have mostly stayed connected through my mother as both Judy and i have been at different stages in our lives and of course the distance between us didn't lend itself to any visits.  but, after my feature, we not only reconnected as cousins, but we also connected as artists. never in our wildest dreams did we ever dream that one day we would be in a magazine together featuring our art.  Judy's work is exquisite and incredibly detailed.  I hope to visit her studio one day myself and see St. Nick up close.
you may contact Judy at

so, to celebrate I have decided that it would be lovely to share in the joy!
