a winters night

we waited and waited for snow to arrive at our home in time for Christmas.
unfortunately we seemed to have more of a green Christmas than a white one.
(it just never feels the same and I don't know if I will ever get use to it)

however, during the holiday season we spent
some time at my parents home where I grew up.
(it is a 9 hour drive north of here.)

on this particular day it snowed all day long and in the evening we all bundled up to
walk, run, play, throw snowballs and enjoy the beauty.
it was breathtaking!

the very next day the temperature dropped to -39 degrees.
